"We Are the All Stars, the Mighty, Mighty All Stars!"

JW Smith Elementary was very excited to have so many of our students earn gold and silver medals for their math and reading MCA tests from 2010-11! A celebration was held to celebrate these successes on Janurary 11th. Mrs. Welte opened the ceremony with kind words followed by the presentation of flags led by the 4th grade Boy Scouts. Mrs. Loxtercamp conducted the "All Star chant", AR beads were handed out, and then we got down to the business of medal awards. Gold medals symbolized exceeding the state standard and silver medals symbolized meeting the state standard. The totals for students' awards were as follows: 28 gold in math, 29 silver in math, 44 gold in reading and 23 silver in reading, with 25 students getting gold medals in BOTH math and reading! Way to go All Stars!
