This is Taledray. He is 10 years old and in 3rd grade at J.W. Smith. He has lived his whole life with a bad heart and until recently was doing very well with his pacemaker.
About a month ago, his heart became enlarged and he is now in need of a heart transplant. He recently had surgery to receive a “Berlin Heart”. This is a temporary device on the heart to help pump the blood while he waits for his heart transplant.
J.W. Smith PTO is selling red “We Taledray” bracelets in the office for $2 each as a fundraiser for the family. Money used from the sale will help offset medical costs for the family. Please consider buying bracelets or making a money donation.
We appreciate all of your support. We will also be having a dance this spring along with a raffle as a fundraiser to help the family.
J.W. Smith families, staff and students gathered to have a fun spring dance and also raise money for Taledray's family. Over 200 people attended and participated in the pizza supper, raffle drawings, bracelet sales and of course, the dancing! We were able to give the family over $800 and best wishes from everyone at JW Smith! Thank you to all who helped out in any way!!
